Making PMDG work with Opencockpits MCP

Post by chris2far »

Hi All,

I am relatively new to cockpit building and have just bought the open cockpits MCP, I have been playing with it for a few days and have not been able to get it to work with PMDG. I bough OC4BA and whilst I can see that it communicates with the computer, via the test programme, I cannot get PMDG to communicate with it. OC4BA has a tick next to the MCP, SIOC shows it is communicating with FSUIPC but I cannot seem to get to that next step. Its not clear to me if I need to start programs in sequence or not, or if I need to do something additional with FSUIPC.

I shot a video to show whats happening - https://youtu.be/veC8mWkXfi0

I hope that helps.

Hi,

Have you read the documentation?

OC4BAv3 do not use FSUIPC. ( you can always use FSUIPC to other things, but OC4BAv3 doesn't need it to work)

Do you have a Power Supply connected to the MCP?

Have you set the "EnableDataBroadcast" in the PMDG B737 option file? ( See OC4BA doc)

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have enabled broadcast - copy of file below:

[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1

[FMC]

I have also got the FMC plugged into a powered hub and you can see in the video it powers fine.

The instructions refer to having OC4BA in the add ons menu but I do not see it there in P3D. This may indicate its not installed properly?

I have read all the instructions and followed the Important must read file as closely as I can, the files it mentions as being in my SIOC folder are actually in a folder named 0C4BA which is where I installed it, I am not sure if that makes any difference. However much I study the documentation, as a newbie I cannot seem to figure it out.

There should not be any OC4BA folder.

All OC4BA files should be installed directly to SIOC folder. This is very clearly stated in the Setup program when you install OC4BA.

Should I move them over or reinstall?

The best is always to do it properly. Uninstall OC4BA and delete all remaining OC4BA files. Then make a new install and read the info you get during the installation process.
